RC Car Racing: Lay the Track Down

Getting the racing track down isn't tough. The essential ingredients are ½'' PVC pipe, elbow joints and T-joints, and a saw or PVC pipe cutter. That is about all you need to get started. Now you've got to think about what kind of track you want. There are three main designs: small speed course, small agility course, and large road course. Follow the directions and dimensions on how to get each course the way you want it. Then let your RC car rip your track up, and call over some buddies for some insane RC car racing!

Let the track builder do the calculations for you, if you want to be lazy and focus instead on racing your RC car. Plug in a track name, then add the dimensions of your room (or driveway/parking lot) and let the track builder come up with the perfect track for you. You can spend more time getting your RC car ready for racing battle. Then take your tools and get the track put up. Be sure to follow the track builder's helpful hints - keep your width at least 2.5 feet wide, allow extra room for you to stand by the track (or for your buddies and spectators), use 5-foot pipes to give you more flexibility if you have to move the track at any given time and use duct tape to hold down any loose pipes.

Don't just race your own RC car around the track - get on board with some fellow enthusiasts who share the same passion for racing that you do. Join an RC car racing club and get some buddies together who want to throw down on the track with you. Show off your RC electric drift car to the crowd. Get some tournaments going and brag about your tricked-out RC car's skills to your crew!
